Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan | 慶雲館（世界最古の温泉宿）
Certified officially by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world’s oldest continuously operating hotel, Nishiyama Onsen Keiunkan (西山温泉 慶雲館) was founded in the second year of the Keiun era—705 AD—by Fujiwara Mahito. For over 1,300 years and through 52 generations of continuous family ownership, this legendary mountain sanctuary has kept its thermal hearth fires burning unbroken.
Tucked deep in the rugged ravines of the Southern Alps (Akaishi Mountains) along the Hayakawa River canyon, Keiunkan holds an aura of sacred seclusion. Throughout the Sengoku warring states period, legendary samurai warlord Takeda Shingen and later Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu sought refuge here, soaking in its miraculous thermal springs to heal battlefield wounds.
